Bluebeam Revu 20 end of life: what changes on Dec 31, 2026 and what to do

Updated · facts checked on the vendor's official pages (sources below)

Short answer: Bluebeam Revu 20 reached End of Support on July 31, 2026 and reaches End of Life on December 31, 2026. If your license number starts with 1* (perpetual), Revu 20 keeps running on your computer after that date, but it loses Studio Sessions, Studio Projects and API integrations. If it starts with 96* (open) or 98* (enterprise), the license is deactivated on or before December 31, 2026. Bluebeam's replacement is Revu 21 on a subscription: Basics $260, Core $330, Complete $440 or Max $590 (introductory price) per user per year, billed annually.

What happens to your Studio data

Bluebeam says Studio data is tied to the email address you use to log in to Studio, so it migrates automatically when you upgrade to Revu 21 (subject to normal retention policies). If you no longer have access to that email address, Bluebeam asks you to contact support. Do this before Dec 31, 2026, while Revu 20 can still reach Studio.

Price check: Revu 21 vs takeoff tools

At list price per seat, a Revu 21 subscription costs less than any dedicated takeoff tool in our directory with public pricing. Switching makes sense when you want automated (AI) takeoff or built-in estimating. It does not make sense only to avoid the subscription.

FAQ

Will Bluebeam Revu 20 stop working after December 31, 2026?

It depends on the license. A perpetual license (number starts with 1*) keeps running locally but loses Studio Sessions, Studio Projects and API integrations. Open (96*) and enterprise (98*) licenses are deactivated on or before December 31, 2026.

How do I know if my Revu 20 license is perpetual?

Your license number starts with 1*. Numbers starting with 96* are open licenses, 98* enterprise and 99* site licenses.

Can I still get support for Revu 20 or move it to a new computer?

No. Since July 31, 2026 Revu 20 has no technical support or self-service license management, and perpetual licenses can no longer be reassigned to a different machine. Bluebeam stopped selling Revu 20 after September 30, 2023.

How much does Revu 21 cost?

Revu 21 comes with a Bluebeam subscription: Basics $260, Core $330, Complete $440 and Max $590 (introductory) per user per year, billed annually (bluebeam.com/pricing, checked 2026-10-20).

What happens to my Studio Projects when I upgrade?

Studio data is tied to your Studio login email, so it migrates automatically when you upgrade to Revu 21, subject to normal retention policies.

Can I use Revu 20 and Revu 21 at the same time?

No for converted customers: Bluebeam's Terms of Use do not allow using Revu 20 and Revu 21 together, and open/enterprise Revu 20 licenses running alongside a subscription are deactivated.

Is there a free trial of Revu 21?

Yes. Bluebeam offers a 14-day free trial of the Max plan with no credit card, and refunds purchases if you ask within 30 days.

Does Bluebeam Revu run on Mac?

Bluebeam says Revu runs on Windows and is best used on a laptop or desktop; subscribers can also use Bluebeam on the web and mobile. For takeoff, STACK describes its software as cloud-based.

What is the cheapest alternative to Bluebeam?

For markups and measurements, a Revu 21 Basics ($260/yr) or Core ($330/yr) seat is cheaper than any takeoff tool with public pricing in our directory (Kreo is about $1,200/yr, PlanSwift $2,000/yr). Dedicated takeoff tools make sense when you want AI or automated takeoff.
